Translate
π«π· π¬π§ π©πͺ π¨π³ π΅πΉ ππΊ πͺπΈ
The translations are handled in our dedicated Weblate service. Any help is welcome.
- Most of Panoramax can be translated. That includes all server-side software and interfaces displayed to the users.
That means that all the text can be translated to any Weblate supported language, including local variations (e.g. πΊπΈ American English VS π¬π§ British English). - Some instance specific wording is not included in the translation (e.g. Terms & services). Please directly contact the instance manager for those.
- Localized formats for numbers, currency, dates, etc. is not currently supported.
Add a new language
You can request to add a new language with a simple request on Gitlab. Please specify the language code expected (see the full list). We will manually make it available for you in Weblate.
If you are considering adding a country-specific variant of a language (e.g. de-AT
), first make sure that the main language is well maintained (e.g. de
). Your contribution might be useful to more people if you contribute to the existing version of your language rather than the country-specific variant.
When translations are included
The translation files are included from Weblate before each release.
- For the first integration, the language translation needs to be 100% achieved. We will manually integrate this first translation as soon as you make a simple request on Gitlab.
- For the upcoming integrations including small translations, the import is automated.
Basemap
The basemap is specific to every instance.
- For the OpenStreetMap France instance, it is only translated into most spoken languages in the world: English π¬π§, French π«π·, German π©πͺ, Spanish πͺπΈ, Portugese π΅πΉ, Russian π·πΊ, Chinese π¨π³. The translation of places (countries and cities) is extracted from OpenStreetMap.
The fallback language is English for all other languages. - For the IGN instance, the only supported language is French π«π·
- For other instances, the basemap is independently managed by their administrators.
External translations
Some instances such as OpenStreetMap France rely on external login from openstreetmap.org website.
Therefore, you should make sure to translate some essential strings on this website too:
